Roasted Cauliflower Soup

In my 70 years of fine dining, this is one of the top three soups I have ever tasted. It is absolutely fabulous!

Chilean Sea Bass

I had never ordered Chilean Sea Bass before, but from my previous experience at Cafe Monarch, I knew I would love anything put in front of me. The fish was perfectly cooked- flaky but not dry. The seasoning was delicious. My favorite part might have been the side that came along with it. Almost like a salsa, but good crunch and a sweet but citrusy tang.

Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée

I had never ordered bananas foster before but I k we if there would be a first time, Cafe Monarch would make me love it. The banana cake was rich and moist, the sauce was decadent and the candied walnuts had a sweet (but peppery?) crunch to balance the flavor. Not too banana-y, not too sweet, and a nice petite portion size after a delicious meal.

Niman Ranch Filet Mignon

Oh, the filet. My husband ordered this but how could I not steal a few bites? Cooked to perfection (medium in our case) with a gorgeous creamy sauce. The vegetables on the side were tasty as well- onion, mushroom, and a giant broccolini branch. The size was just right to go with the other elements of the meal. I ordered the sea bass to be different, but I'd switch to the filet next time!

Roasted Cauliflower Soup

Cauliflower soup doesn't sound fancy, but of course this was beautifully made. Rich and creamy- it was almost like a butternut soup meets a bisque. The pine nuts were a perfect crunch. The crostini was a necessary tool to scrape the bowl clean- didn't want to leave a drop behind!

Kings & Queens

This is an amazing drink. Perfect blend of dryness with a hint of sweet. I enjoy Vesper Martinis and this is right up there with it!

New Zealand Lamb Rack

The rack of lamb was delicious. But I had requested extra mint jus and there was none at all. The fig tapenade was wonderful!
